ROA (Return on Action) can be used as a metric to quantify the value of your actions.

Say, if your goal is to make as much money as possible within the next five hours, what would the highest return on action be in this case? The problem though, is that you're life isn't just the next five hours, and then there's the delayed gratification thing, there may things you could do now that won't make you any money at all within the next five hours, but things that could set you on a path to making a giant fortune later. Everyone could make 100 (dollars, euros, bitcoin, or whatever) in a few hours, but if you want to make a million, is there better ways to do this than to just make 100 over and over until you've reached a million? Yes, probably.

Thinking about return on action could be beneficial, but just like thinking about what the best of anything could be, it's not really possible to be completely certain. You never know what the best is, unless you are comparing to a fixed set. Real life isn't fixed sets. Real life is open, there are endless opportunities, and you will never know if you've made the best choice. You can feel like you've made a good choice, and you can be satisfied with the outcome of your choices. This is how you approach return on action. Try to do things that produces satisfiable outcomes, and aim high.
